BIODATA


Gabriela Guerra Garrido is a future sociologist and flight assistant who was born in Santiago, Chile. She’s a planned daughter who was stucked in the hospital elevator minutes after she was born. She was a good student of a public school in Maipú. In 2017 she joined Universidad de Chile to study sociology. Now she’s pursuing her 4 th year of the career, and she expects be a professional next year. After that, she wants to be a flight assistant: her dream profession (by now).


She likes to spend time with relatives and friends. Gabriela could be a very good company for being a talkative and funny person. That’s why almost all her jobs (or opportunities to make money) involve being in touch with people. She likes to study at house and take all the time she can in that. She loves experimenting in the kitchen and testing new recipes (only vegetarian ones). She says cooking is the best therapy for daily unrests.

Among all the vague plans she has for future, she’d like to go to live out of Chile for a year. She doesn’t matter the kind of job, she just wants to sleep, eat and travel well. Okay, it’s just a plan for 5 more years. Meanwhile, she must concentrate on graduating and surviving the coronavirus.

    Dreams may come true. I had a student that, thanks to her not-very-brilliant English, applied at Latam as a flight attendant and later to Qatar and there she is flying, enjoying and making money, of course. You should try!

When I was studying abroad at Universitat de Barcelona, university sent me to do six weeks of work experience. I was part of a research team for a project that aims to characterize the social groups that defend the independence of Catalonia. I hadn’t to staying in another city, I was just in Barcelona. I had to go to the meetings of groups involved in protests, and later interview them. About formal stuff, it was a relaxed project: I didn’t have to wear a specific outfit, nor did I have to meet schedules, only work with deadlines. The work I had to do was mostly about information recompilation and data analysis. It was a work I had done in my country, that’s why it wasn’t a trouble for me. About obesity and statal intervention

There is a growing trend to see obesity as a public health problem that requires state intervention while some people feel that this is a personal issue that should be resolved accordingly. How do you see this? Why obesity is a public health problem? Meanwhile unhealthy foods and eating in a fast food restaurant are more expensive than healthy ones, people would haven’t chance of being obese. For example, if you want to eat some crunchy and salad food, you easily can buy a cheap chips.
